One-Dress... 1000 Women... Endless Possibilities

I first heard of NYC designer Malcolm Harris, of Mal Sirrah, Inc., for his work in fashion and philanthropy to support the people of Darfur. His new project called One-Dress is an 18-month collaborative project with over 1,000 women over global social networks to create the seemingly perfect dress to fit and flatter almost every body shape. With the collective spirit and desires of women for their lifestyles, fashion, fit, fabrics, colors, seasons, silhouettes, Malcolm Harris introduces the one dress that can be wrapped, tied, and draped to suit the desires of the woman wearing it. With one dress you can fit a dozen, if not more, different looks; it is gorgeously amazing, and you'll see it worn by fashionably philanthropic A-listers like Angelina Jolie.

A portion of the profits from the sale of the dress will benefit Womankind Worldwide, a nonprofit organization which helps women in developing countries - silenced or isolated by harmful traditions, conflict, violence and intimidation or the sheer exhaustion of surviving in poverty - to have a distinctive say in what goes on in their family, community and country; and Kiva, a non-profit whose mission is to connect people through lending for the sake of alleviating poverty through its person-to-person micro-lending website, empowering individuals to lend directly to unique entrepreneurs in the developing world (see my prior blog post "Flip for Good" featuring Kiva). I say this one dress truly has endless possibilities!
